July 1991 : 1st place at the French National Watercolor Contest of the BEAUX ARTS. (FRANCE)
August 1999 : 1st place – International Artistic Live Drawing Contest in Deauville (FRANCE)- “L'art Romantisme”.
April 2005 : 2nd place – MAESTRO INTERNACIONAL DEL RETRATO – BARCELONA (SPAIN) “International contest of Portrait Masters”.
Sept. 2008 : 3rd place – “SOLEIL LEVANT ART EXPO” – GENEVA ( SWITZERLAND)
Nov. 2012 : 1st place – INTERNATIONAL GRAPHIC DESIGN CONTEST “ The battle of good and evil” (MILANO - ITALY)
October 2013 : 1st place – UNIVERSITY OF RENO - “CHALK ON THE BLOCK” 32 HOURS STREET ART CONTEST (In collaboration with his friend Kelly Mier)
July 2015 : 3rd place : 24 HOURS MURAL MARATHON – CIRCUS CIRCUS RENO NV. During this competition, Stephane Cellier, demonstrated - by using classical French techniques from the Renaissance (grisaille and multiple glazing) - that he could get as good results, as teams of several artists using fast and modern spray cans.
September 2015 : 1st place (public choice)– RENO VISUAL ART BLAST – His painting “The Irishman” is now part of the city of Reno-NV permanent art collection.
September 2015: TAHOE CITY UTILITY DISTRICT : his project of “Aqua-pipe” has been selected to become a permanent public artwork in Tahoe City.
June 2017 : THE RENO'S PROFESSIONAL BASEBALL AND SOCCER TEAMS : have commissioned Stephane Cellier to paint a 90'x 19' mural representing actual team players.
Born and raised in France, the artist was surrounded by art and culture from an early age. Passionate about drawing and painting - for as long as he can remember - Stephane Cellier has been graduated in 1991 by the prestigious French Fine Art school “Ecoles Nationale des Beaux Arts”. (MASTER DEGREE IN FRENCH CLASSICAL TECHNIQUES – XVth to XXth century)
This background gave him the opportunity to create his own unique style, mixing classical techniques from the old French Masters as Delacroix, Ingres, or Manet, to modern subjects.
Stephane Cellier loves to play with light and shadow to illuminate the shape, texture and colors of his subject and create totally outstanding artworks, that looks almost 3 dimensional and alive.
It is because he can't bear any form of limitation in his art that he represents such a wide range of subjects, in his work. Using brushes is a way For him,
"Beauty is all around us...it is wherever we choose to look, even in ugliness.... It doesn't require a discerning eye to see it...all it requires is an open heart."
